First Day of Chemo

I had my first day of chemo (rituxan)today. They are very proactive about preventing side-effects, rather than waiting for you to get them and then treating them. They gave me a lot of benadryl, so I slept thru most of the chemo. I woke up when they took vital signs (every 15 mins) but went right back to sleep afterwards. Tomorrow they put in a bladder catheter that will give me continuous irrigation. The chemo drug they start tomorrow (cytoxan) can cause horrible bladder problems, so they do the catheter and special protective drugs in the IV. I am not sure how I will shower with an IV pole and assorted bags, but no doubt I will find a way that works.
