Pull Your Socks Up

This is an English expression that means "Pull yourself together: make a special effort." It perfectly describes how to get through a stem cell transplant!

I am going to have an autologous stem cell transplant (SCT). The stem cells will come from my own blood and bone marrow (not from a donor). There is only one place in the country that does SCTs for polyarteritis nodosa (PAN)--Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. It is experimental: I am part of a clinical trial assessing the effectiveness of SCT in aggressive, treatment-resistant necrotizing vasculitis (in my case, polyarteritis nodosa).

  1. Do you have a date for the SCT?
